About Our Programs

Curriculum

The Caledon East Children's Place follows the “Ontario Pedagogy for the Early Years, How Does Learning Happen?” and “The Ontario Early Years Framework” and aligns it with elements of a Reggio Emilia approach to learning.

Toddler

CECP's Toddler program (18-30 months), has a strong focus on supportive relationships, diverse materials, and 1:5 teacher-child ratio. Our highly educated staff team work with an in-house Pedagogical Leader to develop individual programs in each classroom.

Preschool

CECP's Preschool (30 months - 5 years) offers structured days with primary teachers, small group activities, whole group sessions, and a 1:8 teacher-child ratio.

School Age

CECP's Before and After School Care extends Preschool activities, offering child-driven sessions, academics, and outdoor time from 7:00am - 9:00am and 3:30pm - 6:00pm, for ages up to 12.

About Our Programs

Caledon East Children's Place offers programs for Toddler, Preschool and School Age children

Toddler ( Toddler 18 – 30 months of age)

Caledon East Children’s Place employs the HighScope Educational Approach for toddlers (18 – 30 months), fostering active participatory learning through exploration and play. This approach emphasizes close relationships with educators, collaborates with parents for smooth transitions, and maintains a safe, flexible, and sensory-rich environment that caters to individual developmental needs.

In the preschool room, children experience a full day of activities including outdoor play, meals, and rest, guided by primary teachers who tailor the environment to suit their needs and interests. The curriculum incorporates small group learning in language, math, science, art, and social studies, while daily community-building gatherings and planned sessions like MESSAGE BOARD and LARGE GROUP enhance their physical, social, and emotional development through discussions, music, stories, and active play.

The program is based on the interests of the children and is a continuation of the Preschool program. The children continue to benefit from the PLAN-DO-REVIEW process, small and large group time, as well as outdoor time. Opportunities are made available for the children to build upon skills in mathematics, language, literacy and communication, science and technology, creative arts and social studies.
